The Cloud Foundation- Saving & Raising Awareness for Wild Horses
I think all horse lovers will agree that the preservation of wild horses is an incredibly important & worthy cause. Many of you have probably seen the wonderful documentary by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Ginger Kathrens recording a tottering newborn wild foal. Ginger hardly anticipated how he would change her life. She named the pale colt Cloud.
America’s wild horses and burros live on public land and are currently being managed to extinction by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
What is the Cloud Foundation?
The Cloud Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of wild horses and burros on our western public lands with a focus on Cloud’s herd in the Arrowhead Mountains of Montana. Cloud was rounded up for the third time in September of 2009 despite an enormous public outcry. Cloud and his band were released two days after they were captured but Cloud’s grandchildren and his daughter were removed along with more than 50 others, leaving the herd at only 125 horses. Cloud is now back in the wild & we continue our work to preserve what wild horses value most- their freedom and their families.
